Frita (Cuban Hamburger)



Ingredients:

1 lb lean ground beef

4 hamburger buns

½ cup bread crumbs

1 egg

¼ cup milk

1 small onion (minced)

1 garlic clove (minced)

½ tsp paprika

2 tsp salt

1 tbsp mayo

1 tbsp ketchup

1/4 tsp black pepper

Shoestring potatoes (papitas fritas), for garnish

Directions:

Place bread crumbs in milk and soak for a few minutes for bread to absorb the milk. Add all other ingredients, mixing well.  Cover mixture and refrigerate for about 2 hours. Shape mix into medium size patties or hamburger like shapes.  Grease frying pan or skillet with a little olive oil, or, if using a grill, make sure you grease it lightly before placing meat patties.  Fry meats for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until thoroughly cooked. Place meat patties in hamburger buns and sprinkle with shoestring potatoes. You may spread ketchup on the buns, if desired.
